A beautifully restored Porsche 911 2.4T Targa finished in elegant Light Yellow over black leatherette with Pepita sport seats, retaining its matching-numbers engine and gearbox as confirmed by its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
Originally delivered new to sunny California, this exceptional 911 combines outstanding provenance, extensive restoration work, and the unmistakable charm of early air-cooled motoring. Presented beautifully with period-correct Cibie auxiliary lights, it is an especially attractive example of the final-year long-bonnet Targa.
Delivered new in the United States, the car remained with the same owner from 1977 until 1999 before being imported to the Netherlands, where it underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2007. The work is supported by an extensive file of invoices and photo documentation. Around 2016, the car was imported to Belgium and has since been carefully cherished by its Belgian owner.
Over the past decades, the car has benefited from substantial maintenance and restoration work to maintain both its cosmetic presentation and mechanical condition to a high standard. The restoration included a full rebuild of both the engine and gearbox, all thoroughly documented by invoices and records.
The engine rebuild carried out during the restoration included new pistons and cylinders, reconditioned cylinder heads, new cylinder head studs, renewed ignition components and spark plug wires, a new clutch and flywheel, rebuilt warm-up regulator (WUR), and much more. Today, the flat-six remains exceptionally strong, responsive, and eager throughout the rev range.
The engine starts immediately from cold and settles into a smooth, steady idle, producing the unmistakable air-cooled flat-six soundtrack with even the slightest touch of throttle. The gearbox shifts precisely and confidently, perfectly matching the car’s lively character. Often underestimated, the fuel-injected 2.4-litre flat-six with Bosch K-Jetronic injection delivers crisp throttle response and 140 horsepower with remarkable smoothness and usability.
Most recently, the car underwent a major service and mechanical overhaul in our atelier, with no expense spared, ensuring excellent reliability and peace of mind for its next custodian. Works included extensive mechanical servicing and new tyres.
Equipped with factory 15-inch Fuchs alloy wheels fitted with period-correct Pirelli N-rated tyres, the car presents exactly as an early 911 should. Accompanying the car are its original toolkit, jack, spare wheel, extensive history file, numerous invoices, and restoration photographs.
Used regularly for longer drives and international touring by its previous owner, the car has been tastefully upgraded with a Porsche Classic Radio, improved factory-style speakers, additional charging outputs, and a Monit trip meter, enhancing usability while preserving the original appearance of the interior.
The 911 2.4T Targa offers a compelling combination of timeless styling, mechanical purity, and genuine usability. Presented in one of the model’s most desirable period colour combinations, this outstanding example represents a rare opportunity to acquire a highly sorted and beautifully documented early open-top 911.
