The first owner clearly had excellent taste and deliberately chose this exclusive Designo paint, which was available only by special order. It is paired with an AMG grey leather interior and an exceptionally rich specification. Highlights include the glass hardtop roof, multicontour seats for driver and passenger, seat climate control with heating and ventilation, a Designo Alcantara Alpaca Grey headliner, a leather and Designo wood gear selector and Designo Poplar wood trim throughout the cabin. Despite the very low mileage, the car has always been properly and carefully maintained, even during periods of limited use. It has recently received a service, and there are currently no costs to be expected. We can confidently say that this is a perfect and nearly impossible-to-find configuration. The condition of the car is outstanding and closely resembles that of a new vehicle. The V12 runs flawlessly, the Active Body Control suspension operates as intended, the glass roof functions perfectly, and the gearbox shifts smoothly in all driving modes.
Driving this SL 65 AMG is an experience that simply no longer exists today. An open roadster with a hand-built 6.0-litre biturbo V12 is now almost unthinkable, that is precisely what makes this car so special. The engine was assembled by hand according to the One Man One Engine principle and produces 604 hp with an impressive 1,000 Nm of torque, deliberately limited by the factory. At the time, this made the SL 65 AMG one of the most powerful production cars in the world. Officially, the sprint to 100 km/h took just over four seconds, but independent tests quickly showed it was even faster. What truly defines this car, however, is not the numbers, but the way it delivers its performance. Everything happens effortlessly, silky smooth and seemingly endless, with a massive wave of torque always on tap. This is not a nervous or demanding supercar, but a refined and luxurious V12 that is perfectly suited to daily use and becomes utterly addictive when pushed.
