1977 MercedesBenz 450 SL (R107) Honest, Solid Driver Ready to Reclaim Its Grandeur
Location: 2400 Mol (Belgium)
Ownership: Purchased by me in 2015. Part of a larger oldtimer collection.
Reason for sale: Too many projectstime to pass this one to someone who’ll finish it with care.
Facts

  • Model/Year: 450 SL (R107), 1977 (USAspec)
  • Engine: 4.5L V8 M117 mechanically sound; starts, drives and brakes
  • Body/Chassis: No rust observed; straight panels; solid structure
  • Softtop (hood): Good condition with fine stitching
  • Completeness: Complete car, some trim and rubbers need replacement
  • Papers/Numbers: matchingnumbers, imported into Belgium
Bottom line: not a restored show cara complete, rustfree, operational 450 SL that needs attention and a new owner to bring it back to its original elegance.

  • No rust noted in typical R107 spots (jack points, floors, wheel arches, bulkhead/cowl).
  • Paint presents as driverlevel; expect agerelated imperfections, touchups or a respray decision by the next owner.
Interior
  • Complete and original look & feel. No previous restorations (that's why I bought it)
  • Seats, dash, and wood show age; ideal candidate for sympathetic refresh (dye/repair) or partial retrimyour choice.
SoftTop / Hardtop
  • Softtop is good (windows are OK, good stitching, seals need replacement).
  • Factory hardtop included repainted by a professional shop in original black.
Mechanical
  • Technically sound: starts, idles, drives, brakes; classic V8 torque.
  • Injectors, spark plug cables and all vacuum lines replaced. New oils.
  • As a longstanding collection car, it needs a check before regular use.
