- Rare and desirable 1967 Porsche 912 Soft-Window Targa
- Matching numbers engine and chassis
- Original Aga Blue over black leatherette
- Two owners from new with exceptional provenance
- Extensive history file including original 1967 sales invoice
Finished in its original and highly desirable Aga Blue over black leatherette, this 1967 Porsche 912 Soft-Window Targa represents one of the rarest and most charming variants of the early Porsche range. A genuine two-owner example from new, it is accompanied by an exceptional documentation file including its factory Kardex, original sales invoice, stamped service book, numerous invoices and ownership records spanning nearly six decades. Remarkably well preserved with an honest patina, this largely unrestored example offers the authenticity and provenance that discerning collectors seek.
According to its factory Kardex, chassis 550305 was completed on 17 may 1967 and left the factory fitted with its matching engine number and four-speed gearbox. Finished in the extra-cost colour Aga Blue over black leatherette upholstery, it was additionally specified with chrome wheel covers, rubber bumper guards, and tinted glass. A Soft-Window Targa configured to this level represented a significant investment when new and remains an exceptionally desirable specification today.
The Porsche was delivered through Ralph Cutright in Santa Monica in the United States to its first owner, Mr. Martins. Remarkably, the accompanying history file documents the car's life from new with invoices, maintenance records and ownership documentation covering nearly six decades. In 2016 the current owner acquired the car, making this a genuine two-owner example from new. Since then, it has formed part of a carefully maintained private collection and has been used sparingly for classic car tours and enthusiast events.
One of this example's greatest strengths is its remarkable originality. Aside from a single high-quality repaint carried out during its lifetime, the car remains wonderfully unrestored and retains the character, finishes and details that are so often lost during comprehensive restorations. Its honest patina tells the story of careful long-term ownership and makes this a true time capsule rather than an over-restored example.
The history file also includes several original receipts and cards from race events and social clubs and establishments visited by the first owner throughout the 1970s, offering a unique and authentic snapshot of the car’s life in period and its use within a very specific social scene.
Finding an early Soft-Window Targa with matching numbers, only two owners, an exceptionally complete documentation file and such a high degree of originality has become increasingly difficult. Combined with its rare Aga Blue colour and desirable factory specification, this Porsche represents an outstanding opportunity for the discerning collector.
Ready to be enjoyed, the car is offered with its factory Kardex, original 1967 sales invoice, stamped service book, Porsche document wallet, dealer literature, extensive invoices and maintenance records from both the United States and Belgium, together with its Belgian registration documents. Few early Porsches are accompanied by such a comprehensive and continuous history file.
