The 991.2 Carrera 4 GTS is the last GTS Porsche built before the 992 took over, and the finest balance in the entire 991 range. The 3.0 litre twin-turbo flat-six produces 450 ps and 550 Nm.
The GTS package amounts to more than a power increase. The suspension sits 10 mm lower with PASM Sport, rear-axle steering is standard, as are Sport Chrono and the widened Carrera 4 body. The GTS was also the first 911 outside the GT department to receive centre-lock wheels, a detail normally reserved for a GT3.
What makes this car unique is the paint. Apollo Blue was developed by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur as a test colour, to validate how the shade behaves across the different materials a 911 is built from. The body is steel, the doors and bumpers aluminium, the roof magnesium, the mirrors and handles plastic. Every colour has to read identically across all of those surfaces. Apollo Blue passed that test but was never added to the Paint to Sample range afterwards. A second car was therefore never built.
Fun fact: at Porsche, every individual paint colour is formulated and matched by hand, a process that typically takes around eight months. All of that work went into a shade that ultimately ended up on exactly one car.

De 991.2 Carrera 4 GTS is de laatste GTS die Porsche bouwde voor de 992 het overnam, en het beste evenwicht in de hele 991 reeks. De 3,0 liter biturbo zescilinder levert 450 pk en 550 Nm.
Het GTS pakket is meer dan een vermogenstoename. Het onderstel zit 10 mm lager met PASM Sport, de meesturende achteras zit er standaard op, net als Sport Chrono en het verbrede Carrera 4 koetswerk. De GTS was ook de eerste 911 buiten de GT-afdeling met centrale wielmoeren, een detail dat je normaal alleen op een GT3 terugvindt.
Wat deze wagen uniek maakt, is de lak. Apollo Blue werd door Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur ontwikkeld als testkleur, om te valideren hoe de tint zich gedraagt op de verschillende materialen waaruit een 911 is opgebouwd. Het koetswerk is staal, de deuren en bumpers zijn aluminium, het dak magnesium, de spiegels en handgrepen kunststof. Elke kleur moet op al die oppervlakken identiek uitkomen. Apollo Blue doorstond die proef, maar werd nadien nooit opgenomen in het Paint to Sample gamma. Er is dus nooit een tweede gebouwd.
Leuk detail: bij Porsche wordt elke individuele lakkleur met de hand samengesteld en afgestemd, een traject dat doorgaans zo'n acht maanden in beslag neemt. Al dat werk ging hier naar een tint die uiteindelijk op precies één auto is beland.

La 991.2 Carrera 4 GTS est la dernière GTS que Porsche a construite avant l'arrivée de la 992, et le meilleur équilibre de toute la gamme 991. Le six cylindres à plat biturbo de 3,0 litres développe 450 ps et 550 Nm.
Le pack GTS ne se résume pas à un gain de puissance. La suspension est abaissée de 10 mm avec le PASM Sport, la direction des roues arrière est de série, tout comme le Sport Chrono et la carrosserie élargie de la Carrera 4. La GTS a également été la première 911 hors département GT à recevoir des jantes à verrouillage central, un détail normalement réservé à une GT3.
Ce qui rend cette voiture unique, c'est sa teinte. Apollo Blue a été développée par Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur comme couleur d'essai, afin de valider le comportement de la teinte sur les différents matériaux qui composent une 911. La carrosserie est en acier, les portes et pare-chocs en aluminium, le toit en magnésium, les rétroviseurs et poignées en plastique. Chaque couleur doit rendre de façon identique sur toutes ces surfaces. Apollo Blue a passé cet essai mais n'a jamais été intégrée par la suite à la gamme Paint to Sample. Aucun second exemplaire n'a donc jamais été construit.
Anecdote: chez Porsche, chaque teinte individuelle est formulée et harmonisée à la main, un processus qui prend généralement environ huit mois. Tout ce travail a été consacré ici à une couleur qui n'a finalement été appliquée que sur une seule voiture.
