Batterie longue autonomie avec système REX, donc pratiquement aucune limitation d'autonomie puisque le moteur à essence charge la batterie en cas de besoin. Le moteur REX - Range Extender - est un petit moteur essence de 650 cm3 qui peut être allumé si nécessaire pour charger la batterie de la voiture. Il dispose d'un réservoir d'essence séparé et indépendant.
Toujours chargé à la maison avec une charge lente, pour ne pas endommager la batterie. Batterie toujours sous garantie BMW jusqu'en 2027.
